Finally, after 4 attempts, I was able to attend CKC here in Seattle. Every year since 2003 I planned to go to the convention but something would always come up and I wouldn’t be able to go. Last year, I went on Sunday and their last day was Saturday – duh. I was so frustrated – so I made sure this year nothing will stop me from going – I scheduled in advance for my boys to spend the weekend at my sisters. I volunteered and registered for a class just to make sure nothing will hinder my plans. So, despite of only having 2 1/2 hours of sleep because I went out last night until 2 am – I was there bright and early (actually it was still dark when I got there at 7:30 am). I volunteered as a teacher assistant which was awesome. There were 4 classes that I helped out and I learned a lot of techniques with each class.
Class 1: Envelope Tag Mini Album – This was sponsored by National Scrapbooking Association who recently had a Grand Launch and is now called International Scrapbooking Association or Iscrap. Jessica Acs taught the class. I helped a little bit in this class and moved to a different classroom since there was 3 of us teacher assistants in there. And they gave me a free class kit. Cool!

I couldn’t remember how they created the album because I left the class 5 minutes after it started and didn’t really get a good look of the sample – but here’s what I’ve created… some of the ribbons I used are from my stash.
Class 2: I moved to a different classroom and was a very lucky girl to sit in as a volunteer in Ali Edwards “Ali’s Top 10″ class and was able to have a picture with her. I really admire her and was very glad to have the opportunity. My eyes looked so puffy since this was very early at 9 am and I had only have 2 hours of sleep.

Class 3: Accordion Mantel Book – This class was sponsored by Scrapbooks ‘N Stickers. This was a very fast paced class – I wouldn’t be able to keep up if I attended this class, but glad I helped out as a teacher assistant because I did learn cool stuff.
Class 4: “Lucky Girl” taught by Brittany Beattie, Managing Editor of Creating Keepsakes. The class created a mini accordion album in a tin. Brittany was very nice and I really like her too and was glad to have a picture taken with her as well.

On top of all that – just by volunteering I received a $30 voucher to the CK store and I got Lisa Bearnson’s latest book .

and a 50% off coupon for any apparel.

The class I attended is “Keep it Simple, Make it Quick, Get it Done with Laurel” by Scenic Route Paper Co. This was a very fun class – we completed 4 2-page layouts in 2 hours. Layle Koncar, the instructor was great, very engaging and funny. I loved it!!!
